Wayne Salge

Wayne Salge was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and attended San Antonio College and La Villita School of Art. He was first a student of abstract painting and then changed to sculpture at the suggestion of a college professor. After graduation, he worked as a television art director, an Army illustrator, an advertising agency art director, and a freelance graphic designer.

Wayne is more interested in shape, line, and form to express feelings rather than realistic depiction. "My design style has been evident in my artwork from early years even in acrylic paintings, graphics and stone sculpture. Even though [the style] is recognizable, it is not easy to label or describe. If it were a painting, I would use the term impressionism. Sometimes the terminology stylized, modern or contemporary is used. It falls somewhere between realism and abstraction."

Wayne now lives and works in Johnstown, Colorado.
