Sarah Coppola - Indigo Arts
Sarah Coppola has been making things out of clay for as long as she can remember. Growing up in her mother's pottery studio,
she learned at an early age how to manipulate the clay into whatever she wanted such as pizzas, snowmen, birds and many other
forms. After patient instruction from her mom, around age 5 she was able to make discernable items and began selling her work
at her mom's craft shows. Art continued to be a very important part of Sarah's life throughout her busy high school career.
She entered many shows and exhibitions, won awards, and joined Carolina Clay Matters, the Charlotte area clay guild. When
she was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill, she knew she was going to major in art. Study abroad in Florence, Italy her senior year
of college gave her art a profound new dimension. Sarah also has a passion for archaeology and graduated with a BFA in art
concentrating in clay sculpture and a second major in anthropology concentrating in archaeology.
Currently Sarah lives in Durham, NC with her cats, Indigo & Neko. She works at Turning Point Gallery and makes her
artwork on the side.
