"As a small child, my love for horses led to thousands of hours at the kitchen table drawing and coloring my future mounts. As an adult, I now explore my relationship and fascination with horses in my painting. My hope is that through these images, the viewer will see horses anew! From a vantage point that not only encompasses the earthly elements of the horse, but also the spiritual and metaphorical aspects."

Tanner earned her BFA from Northern Arizona University and her MFA from Eastern Carolina University.
